December 2024: The Rise Recover Podcast - The Phoenix
#11: This week, Liz and Bryce The Third are joined by David Patton, PhD, Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Derby's Social, Cultural and Legal Research Centre. His work concentrates on amplifying the often-marginalized voices of folks in recovery, particularly in academic settings. At New Central Media, his mission is to challenge traditional knowledge structures, advocating that lived experience is as valid as, or more than, academic knowledge, particularly in substance use disorder and recovery.
September 2024: Doncaster Recovery Games
Dr David Patton opened the national Recovery Games in Doncaster. During his speech he urged those in recovery to take recovery back to their neighbourhoods and communities to help foster well-being and quality of life.

With an extensive career in addiction and recovery, Dr Patton has worked with the Home Office and local authorities to advise government legislation on drug strategies, as well as running several Drugs Education Projects in and around Sheffield. The Science of Addiction Recovery MOOC
Consider completing this accredited MOOC with the University of Derby. It introduces the science of addiction recovery and examines the evidence on recovery pathways in Europe. Recovery Pathways focuses particularly on gender differences in how people recover and what happens at different stages of recovery.
The course provides insight into what we know about addiction recovery and how the European REC-PATH study has contributed to that knowledge.
